education service parliament
What do you think of this new vision for Democracy?

1. All previous rights for citizens remain e.g. freedom of speech, right to a fair trial e.t.c.
2. Importantly, not everyone has the right to vote and not everyone can run for office. A certain amount of education and/or service is required, for example 3 years frontline armed forces duty, a base Year 12 education.
3. All political parties (e.g. Republican, Labor, Democrat, Socialist e.t.c.) will be allowed, though every vote in Parliament/Congress must be a conscience vote i.e. free from party influence. Parties will effectively be a group of people with like minded views

I do like option #2, though I fear perhaps this is becoming slightly elitist for your views. I understand where you’re coming from, but I don’t completely recommend going that route as it’s likely to alienate some of your population and cause some sort of revolt, though it’s also possible it’ll encourage greater education and service. You’d just have to be careful how you implemented it, really.

Though I really really like #3, that’s a good one, though once again maybe difficult to get started.
